MASTERCLASS
What we built and why: Industry leaders in
investing health social entrepreneurs
A peer conversation between leading health companies on their structured approach to investing in health social entrepreneurs. Spanning grants, catalytic capital and impact-first funding, this session goes behind the portfolio to explore the models, motivations and lessons learned from some of the industry’s most active health investors.
WORKSHOP
Diagnose and bridge: Closing the healthcare innovation
Proof-of-Concept gap
High rates of healthcare tech startups fail because they cannot escape a structural proof‑of‑concept trap: they need early evidence to attract capital, but they need capital to generate that evidence. This is a systemic ecosystem failure. The session breaks down the ideation‑to‑PoC pathway across stakeholders and identifies where coordinated commitments would create the greatest leverage in closing the PoC gap.
Fireside chat
The courage to build: True confessions of animal health entrepreneurs
Masterclass
What travels, what doesn't: Health investment
lessons across emerging markets
This session brings together investors building and funding health solutions on the ground across Africa, Asia and Latin America to share investment approaches and business models. With investors from around the world in the room, this conversation will invite perspectives from the room and open up the debate.

Panel
From friction to impact: How collaboration failures lead to better partnerships
Explore what truly makes cross-sector collaboration work by learning from when it fails. Through honest stories of partnerships between business, government, and leading social entrepreneurs working in the health sector, this session uncovers key lessons and the principles behind effective collaboration. Join the session and walk away with practical insights and takeaways to strengthen partnerships across sectors.

AI everywhere, impact anywhere?
Prioritizing for real-world health impact
Healthcare startups face a growing tension between rapidly expanding AI capabilities and the limited resources available to deliver real health impact. With nearly half of newly funded digital health ventures now embedding AI, concerns around point-solution burnout, trust, transparency and bias are rising. This session explores how entrepreneurs and ecosystem partners can make smarter AI investments, build trustworthy models and focus scarce resources on the opportunities that create the greatest value.
Workshop
Growing pains: Fixing the friction when we scale health collaborations
Make it Real - our 2026 theme - marks a shift from piloting to lasting execution. This session explores what sustainable scaling really takes: recognizing that reach isn’t the same as impact, growth without equity is simply expansion, and lasting scale depends on relationships and community ownership, not just replicating a model. Participants will explore how alliances enable scale, shared accountability strengthens impact, and rapid growth can weaken trust and dilute mission without the right safeguards.
Masterclass
Before the breakthrough: Founder stories on the journey to profitability
A founder-led masterclass on what financial sustainability really looks like in health social enterprise. Featuring founders who’ve navigated the long, often painful road from pre-revenue to profitability, they'll share the real decisions, near misses and pivotal moments that changed the trajectory of their businesses, alongside how they protected their own wellbeing and that of their teams. Designed for founders on the journey, and investors who need to understand what they’re really backing.
Masterclass
Behind great deals: Secret sauce for excellent investments?
An investor-to-investor masterclass on what makes a great health investment. Experienced investors open up their playbooks, sharing how they source, evaluate, structure and support deals across emerging markets including the judgment calls no framework can capture. This isn’t a panel about trends - it’s practitioners teaching practitioners, deal by deal: the signals they trust, the mistakes they’ve learned from and the ingredients behind their best investments.
Workshop
The healthy prompt lab: Hands-on, hands-up with LLMs
The session sets out to demystify what actually happens behind the chat window, so participants understand a Large Language Model (LLM) as a system rather than as magical black box. It does that through five hands-on exercises on live chat apps, so everyone can try out the concepts immediately. Participants leave knowing more about opportunities and risks when working with LLMs.
Workshop
The resilience imperative: Designing healthy organizations
Organizations working with vulnerable communities need to build resilience as funding declines, governments shift and new financial models emerge. Resilience is built through sustainable local engagement, active networks and meaningful partnerships - exactly what this session will explore - how to move beyond isolated initiatives, align corporate and community priorities, and unlock underused assets to build long-term partnerships that deliver durable, equitable impact.
Working session
The network advantage: Unlocking the power of investor communities
A session designed to help participants understand how different investor communities and networks support health impact investors, entrepreneurs and partners.
Working session
Inside the Community of Practice: A closed-door exchange between investors in healthcare
A session exploring what it's like to be part of the Community of Practice (CoP) of Impact Investors in healthcare. CoP members or even investors outside of the CoP will present one of their deals, then in typical CoP fashion we dive deeper into the deal – asking the tough questions to uncover challenges and opportunities.
Masterclass
Beyond gut feel: Science behind health investment decisions
A practical masterclass for investors who want to go beyond the pitch deck to locate real health needs and the bankable solutions. Led by Boehringer Ingelheim's More Health team alongside colleagues from IT and Human Pharma businesses, the session explores pressing global health challenges, including CRM conditions and CKD, and the investable solutions that could address them across technology, data, communities and pharma innovation. The goal - connect the science of a health problem to the shape of a bankable solution. A deliberate parallel to the founder-led profitability masterclass.
Spotlight Stage
ABRAF
ABRAF is building the first patient-centered research study in Brazil to map the diagnostic journey of people living with pulmonary fibrosis.
An estimated 10,000 to 30,000 patients live with the disease across Brazil. By mapping their diagnostic delays, referral patterns, and systemic barriers, the study will generate actionable evidence. This can then be used to redesign care pathways and drive real policy change. This will be transformative for patients, reducing the time they spend without a correct diagnosis, improving access to specialized care, and informing the development of clinical guidelines for pulmonary fibrosis in Brazil. In the longer term, it will contribute to system change that makes patients visible and supported within the public healthcare system.
Spotlight Stage
Meditect
In many African countries, pharmacies are often the first place patients go, but when they get there the medicine isn’t.
This is because they’re underequipped digitally, leading to medicine stock-outs, limited patient follow-up, and missed opportunities for early disease detection and prevention.
Our solution has everything pharmacies need, it’s set up, integrated and ready to go. This not only improves medicine availability, but also helps pharmacies identify and screen at-risk patients, educate them on their illness, guide them to appropriate care, and put a care pathway in place.
These scalable, practical, and locally adapted solutions make healthcare systems more inclusive, strengthening the African healthcare system as a whole.
Spotlight Stage
Viya Health
Most women spend 9 years in poor health. They want care, but it’s confusing, fragmented, and difficult to navigate. Information in one place, products somewhere else, providers in another. Siloed solutions that only address one need. Digital apps that don’t talk to offline services. Misinformation and stigma compound these challenges.
The result: women can’t access the care they need. Only 5 to 6 percent of women with a health need ever reach out for help.
Viya Health was built to fix that. We are creating a digitally enabled platform where women can find what they need, when they need it, and feel confident doing it. From contraception to fertility, from midlife to metabolic health, we meet her where she is, on her terms, and support her health journey throughout her lifetime.
Spotlight Stage
Afya Intelligence
In Africa, 70% of low-income patients go to private pharmacies first - including for HIV, TB, and malaria medication.
But with three in four of these pharmacies still keeping records on paper and eight in ten payments are cash, they’re invisible to healthcare systems that depend on their data to meet medicine demand. At Afya Intelligence, we work with the whole supply chain, from the Ministry of Health to thousands of private pharmacies.
Afyalytics - our AI powered decision support, sits inside existing public supply chain systems to help the government forecast and plan countries’ medicines.
Dukadawa, does the same for the private pharmacies, connecting them into one intelligent network.
Spotlight Stage
Medrafa Health Information Exchange
Medrafa is building connected digital infrastructure to address Africa’s fragmented healthcare systems and pharmaceutical supply chains. Its platform digitizes pharmacy operations - like inventory, procurement, and expiry tracking - improving medicine availability and reducing waste.
Expanding on this foundation, Medrafa is developing OpenTena as opensource HIE software to enable secure, interoperable data sharing - such as electronic prescriptions and patient summaries - across pharmacies, clinics, and laboratories.
By mid-2026, Medrafa onboarded 180 facilities (including 30 Ethiopian Red Cross pharmacies), trained over 900 healthcare workers, and facilitated over 565,000 prescription encounters. Medrafa demonstrates how localized African innovation can bridge immediate operational needs with long-term system interoperability.
Spotlight Stage
Tendo
Across low-income communities in Kenya, migration is often a response to economic hardship and lack of opportunity. Women migrate without proper information, documentation, or safety plans, making them very vulnerable to exploitation, trafficking and dangerous working conditions.
Tendo works with women and youths to make migration safer and more sustainable. We equip them with the knowledge and entrepreneurial skills to build livelihoods through TendoPreneurship.
While our Female Migrant Preparedness Toolkit provides young women with legal knowledge, safety planning tools, economic pathways, and community support options.
At the same time, our climate-smart agriculture and circular economy innovations strengthen and create green jobs in the rural communities they came from.
Spotlight Stage
MicroInsurance Services
Only 1% of Malawi’s population has access to medical insurance - with 86% of the population living on less than $3 a day.
This makes medicine unaffordable, leading to premature death from many preventable diseases - for example malaria which affects 30% of the population yearly.
Our community-based health insurance model improves health outcomes for rural communities through accessible, quality healthcare and financial protection. We offer affordable, simple and trusted protection that prevents rural families from falling into financial hardship through illness, disability and maternity.
Inclusive insurance is not just a financial product, it’s a powerful tool for improving health outcomes, reducing poverty, and building community resilience.
Spotlight Stage
Kormaq Teleradiology
Africa has just 0.9 radiologists per 1 million people. We are closing the diagnostic access gap by making expert radiology available 24/7, regardless of location.
Kormaq connects hospitals with licensed radiologists through a secure, locally developed teleradiology platform, enabling timely reporting of X-rays, CT, MRI and other imaging without requiring an on-site radiologist.
13 health facilities served | 130K scans reported | 24/7 reporting
Our technology-enabled workflow combines digital imaging, AI and specialist expertise to reduce diagnostic delays and expand access to quality radiology across Africa.
Spotlight Stage
CliniDo
Millions of people still face unnecessary healthcare barriers with fragmented systems, limited information, and inefficient pathways. Lasting healthcare impact comes from access, affordability, education and continuity of care.
At CliniDo, we combine it all into one online health platform for underserved African communities. We help healthcare providers deliver better patient experiences by digitizing their practice. Once they’re more visible to patients, finding and booking their care becomes simple.
CliniDo also provides reliable health education and personalized follow-up content, helping people understand conditions and stay engaged in care. Through financing partnerships, we also help make treatments more affordable. All of this reduces barriers to care and scales healthcare equity across Africa.
Spotlight Stage
UltraTeb
The hospital supply chain is broken. When procurement is manual, middlemen inflate prices and providers lack the working capital to stay stocked. This means clinics are left without basics like gloves, syringes, tubes and test kits, affecting communities and costing patients.
Our AI platform fixes these issues by automatically matching providers’ orders with a 2,500+ item catalogue across 100+ vendors, finding the best quote in minutes.
Going right to the manufacturer cuts the price, and embedded financing lets them buy on terms that fit their cash flow. It can also predict shortages and price spikes on items before they happen meaning hospitals are always prepared.
Spotlight Stage
Axcess Pharmacy
1.2 Billion people in low income communities remain underserved by traditional healthcare systems.
Despite advances in treatment innovations, access to essential medicines, clinical trials and care is a challenge in Kenya and many other countries across Africa. Systemic barriers around availability, affordability, and adherence limit timely access to treatments that could save lives and advance health equity.
We’re expanding access to quality, affordable healthcare with our network of pharmacies, giving easy access to underserved communities and giving healthcare workers practical knowledge and training. We also partner with clinical trial sponsors and sites to bring new treatments closer to communities.
Spotlight Stage
Beneficência Portuguesa
Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death and disability worldwide. In Teresina, an estimated 135k people may have Chronic Kidney Disease, but it can remain undetectable for years. Primary care currently struggles to intercept the cardio-renal cycle.
We want to close this gap using a tested, co-designed model.
An initiative enabling early detection and better management of CKD, helping to prevent deterioration and dialysis. This helps to manage diseases like hypertension, diabetes, and CKD – linked to reducing cardiovascular mortality.
BP’s related CARDIO4Cities program has already seen a 2.6x increase in blood pressure control within 15 months, and a 13% reduction in cardiovascular events (São Paulo).
Spotlight Stage
Villgro Africa
Villgro Africa bridges the gap between Africa’s critical healthcare needs and contextually appropriate, scalable solutions. While local entrepreneurs build affordable, context-driven innovations to solve access and capacity constraints, they frequently face barriers to capital, market validation, and regulatory navigation.
Villgro Africa empowers these health innovators - with intentional support for women leaders - by providing structured acceleration, catalytic capital, technical expertise, and deep market connections.
Through initiatives like the HGS Accelerator and More Health for Africa Program, the organization has supported over 60 healthcare ventures across 36 countries, ultimately creating over 6,000 jobs and impacting more than 50 million lives across the continent.
Spotlight Stage
CORA by diagnostikare.®
Millions of Mexicans lack timely access to quality primary care, increasing chronic disease and mental health gaps. They face long waits, fragmented systems, and costly out-of-pocket alternative care often with no continuous follow-up to keep patients treated.
CORA by diagnostikare.® is our answer: a 24/7 AI-first clinical agent that acts as the entry point to healthcare for underserved communities.
It resolves most cases at first contact, routing patients efficiently when specialist care is needed. It reaches people where they are - through their phones, making quality care accessible, immediate, and continuous.
CORA by diagnostikare.® is proof that AI-first primary care can reach underserved populations at scale in an emerging market with clinical rigor, independent impact validation, and a business model that sustains itself.
Spotlight Stage
Me Muevo
Patient organizations in Latin America have something invaluable: firsthand experience with diseases that can spark real change for patients. But they face structural barriers to turn that experience into advocacy evidence: a lack of technical expertise, structured methodological tools, and time.
Me Muevo solves this using a WhatsApp chatbot. It collects real-lifestories from people living with disease, these are then combined to become evidence that supports change. Everything is exported in ready-to-use formats: a visual map, an executive summary, and a plan of recommendations.
Gaps are identified alongside which education materials are needed, what the organization itself can do and evidence to advocate to authorities for better policies.
Spotlight Stage
Community Veterinary Outreach
More than 1 million Canadians are in unstable housing each year. An estimated 250,000 of them own pets. Animals that provide companionship, regulation, unconditional love, at the same time create a barrier to getting housing and healthcare for themselves.
Our organization, Community Veterinary Outreach, invites homeless pet owners into our pop-up One Health Clinics to provide care to their pets. While they are at our clinics, their pet receives essential care with our vet team, while we offer human health care services.
By caring for both ends of the leash, we get people into housing, elevate the health of the person and the pet, and strengthen communities.
Spotlight Stage
Caravana cu Medici
Caravana cu Medici is an initiative to improve Romanian healthcare access. Our mission is to provide basic medical services, screening tests, and education to vulnerable populations including the elderly, disadvantaged children, and the uninsured.
We address the lack of basic screening that leads to advanced-stage chronic diseases. In rural areas, conditions like diabetes and cardiovascular diseases often go undiagnosed until they cause stroke or heart attack.
For every 100 patients, we identify 12 with diabetes - half were completely unaware of their condition. Beyond medicine, we address the structural root of the problem with governments. We also digitize medical records for patient follow-up and clinical research, plus provide community health education.
Spotlight Stage
Conecta Healthcare
80% of health-tech startups fail, and 70% run out of cash before they can even prove their solution works. In Africa the stakes are higher: the continent carries 24% of the world’s disease burden with just 3% of its health workforce, yet most entrepreneurship support was never built for the regulatory and clinical demands of health innovation.
Conecta Healthcare closes that gap. Rather than incubating ventures one by one, it strengthens the ecosystem itself — equipping local Entrepreneurship Support Organizations (ESOs) to deliver health-specific incubation independently. Created by Bridge for Billions on a decade of experience and backed by research with Strathmore
University and IDRC, it is already live across Rwanda, Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa: building the infrastructure that lets health innovation reach the people who need it most.
Spotlight Stage
Saludtools
Independent ambulatory care providers deliver the majority of outpatient care in Colombia. But without digital infrastructure, their clinical data is lost making them invisible to the wider health system. Saludtools is an affordable, purpose-built platform that digitizes practices.
Care providers have fewer administrative errors, better cash flow, more time with patients instead of paperwork, and better care through structured records. For the wider health system, thousands of disconnected small clinics become a networked, data-rich ecosystem. This improves clinical practice, enables population-level health insights, and creates economic sustainability for providers in underserved communities.
So far across 3,500 clinics, 4.3 million patient records are managed, representing 8% of Colombia’s population.
Spotlight Stage
MedX
Africa’s health systems are not short of data; they are short of connected data. From disconnected patient identifiers, to instrument registration, to lab results, fragmentation costs time, money and lives.
MedX is making data flow automatically, on global standards, across facilities, programmes and borders. The digital backbone that lets African health systems work as one. So every clinical fact, whether a test result, a device reading or a prescription, is captured once and made instantly available to everyone who needs it: the lab, the clinician, the patient and the ministry.
From a single TB surveillance pilot in 2019, MedX now runs across 1,000+ facilities and 5,000+ connected devices across Africa.
